A Quick Quiz to Test Your Memory
Feb 05, 2024Quick:
- Name the six wealthiest people in the world.
- Name seven people who were honored as Time Magazine’s Person of the Year.
- Name the winners of the Super Bowl for the past five years.
- Name the Premier League champion for the past three years.
Coming up blank? Maybe you guessed one or two. Now try this:
- Name a teacher who made an impact on your life.
- Name one friend who has always been there for you.
- Think of someone who inspired you to be better.
The real question is, do these people know what they have meant to you?
Too often, we wait to express our admiration and appreciation for people until they have passed away and we are at their memorial service.
I love the story of the man who, at age 70, took a trip to visit the 44 people who made the biggest impact on his life to thank them in person. What a lovely gesture!
February has Valentine’s Day in it, so I think of it as the month of love. It’s a great time to acknowledge the people in your life that have made a difference or are currently making a difference. When I stop to think about this, the list is a long one. Some of those people are no longer with us physically, but I often feel their spirit, their wisdom, and their support.
During the month of February, I challenge you to make a commitment to reach out to those that matter. Text, email, handwritten note, phone call. Maybe a written tribute to someone who has passed on, but you still feel their impact. Let me know what happens when you do that.
Now, what about the people who think of you in this way? Friends, family, coworkers. How often are you showing up – as your best self – for the people who count on you?
If showing up as your best self more often is important to you, and you want to know how to do that, I invite you to join my high-performance group coaching program.
